Documents Required
ASA welcomes students at different stage of readiness. Some students may new to research but eager to learn and still exploring their interest, others may feel ready to explain their ideas in more depth and want to elaborate more on their research thinking. Both are valued. What matters most is their genuine interest, thoughtful reflection, and willingness to grow.
General Requirement
Each student must prepare a structured research proposal (TWO TOPICS) that demonstrate:

Follow safety and ethical standards
Please note that this is a research design proposal, not just a topic explanation.
Unrealistic proposals may not be approved.
1. Motivation Letter
This document is about applicant's motivation in joining the research program (1-2 pages).

2. Presentation Slide
This document is applicant's presentation slides of two proposed research topics and fields (15-20 slides).
What applicant should explain in the presentation slide:

3. Report Card
This document is applicant's most recent semester report card. If you cannot access your report card or does not have it at the time the registration open, please contact our admission team.

Application Process
Please carefully read the following application process and ensure that all steps and required documents are completed.
Fill in the registration form and submit all required documents

Applicants have to fill in the registration form from ASA website (scienceacademy.sph.ac.id/apply)

Applicants should submit all the required documents: motivation letter, presentation slides, and most recent report card.
Phase 1 Selection
All applications will be in review at this phase. Please refer to the timeline in the next section.
Phase 2 Selection
In this phase, applicants will do a 1-on-1 online interview. Selected applicants will be notified via email to attend an online interview with ASA director. The applicants will have opportunity to explain:

The topics they wish to explore within the Academy.

Their personal reasons for being interested in the chosen topics.
-
Existing work or research conducted by others on their chosen topics.
Acceptance & Onboarding
Final selected applicants will receive an acceptance letter and onboarding task via email, including their starting date.

SPH Applied Science Academy Registration Form
1. Register by filling in this form and submitting it before July 1st, 2025
2. To complete your application, you will need to send an essay through email that includes:

your reason for joining SPH Applied Science Academy
-
explanation of two topics of your interest and why you find them interesting
-
The essay structure of each topic includes:

brief introduction,
-
other research conducted by other people regarding the topic: What has other people do up to date regarding this topic?

the result of their research: What problems do they solve?
-
what you propose to do in the Academy. Your thoughts on what you think you can improve or do differently and how would you approach it.

3. There will be an ONLINE interview and presentation session, which will be scheduled by appointment with ASA director.

The interview and presentation session will take 30-45 minutes.

Create a presentation based on two topics of your interest that includes the same structure as the essay you have prepared.
-
Each topic will be presented for about 10 minutes.
